Marc began his photographic career as a stringer on the capital beat in Sacramento for the Los Angeles Times and Business Week, leading to more intimate and creative productions for magazine portraiture and features.  Opening his first commercial studio mid-eighties, Marc enjoyed the challenges of lighting and shooting everything from tabletop products and catalog work to large productions of people, with creative support staff.  However, his heart always favored onsite location work for corporations and magazines, from portraiture to large-scale productions.  Today, he works exclusively on location and rents a studio when the occasion fits, saying, “To me, it's just another location.”

Marc's work has graced the pages of many retail and trade magazines, including Fortune, Business Week, Entrepreneur, Sierra, Success, Wall Street Journal, Woman’s World, Wine Spectator, and so many more.  Specializing in people and location subjects, his commercial work has included many notable clients, from AT&T and Apple to the Home & Garden Network, Farmer's Insurance, Wells Fargo Bank, and Xerox. He has also performed Art Director and Director of Photography roles for several small commercial video projects, including VanWrite and Wells Fargo Bank.

Marc is fully proficient in all things digital and taught digital imaging for two years at Sacramento State University.  However, his knowledge of digital photography has the distinct advantage of beginning with traditional skills obtained by shooting film, where he learned the value of getting everything right before pressing the shutter.

He has also taught photography and lighting at a local commercial photography school and has been a guest speaker on many occasions in other classrooms.

Fully committed to publication photography, he has twice served the professional community as president for the Northern California chapter (San Francisco) of the American Society of Media Photographers and is currently on the advisory board of the Bay Area Travel Writers, after three years on the board.  Marc's quest for adventure and travel has also led him now to developing more ties to hospitality and travel with continued hotel and resort work, international travel stock, fine art photography, and travel writing.

Among his published works are several travel articles and a book titled, “Weekends for Two in Southern California ~ 50 Romantic Getaways.”   This naturally led to him to doing hospitality photography for hotels and resorts.  Some of his European images have been included in “Art of Seeing” (Alcove Press), a collection of fine art photography.

Before photography, Marc's path took him down the road of environmental science, with a Master's Degree in biology and a nine-year career as a wildlife biologist, though half of that time overlapped with his photographic career.

Marc now works out of the San Francisco Bay Area, but maintains a secondary base in Sacramento.
